When you see the No Sweat Shop label on a garment, it means the garment was manufactured in Australia and all of the people involved in its production received, as a minimum, the Award wage rates and conditions.

Many people are shocked when they learn textile workers in Australia are often paid as little as three dollars an hour. Exploitation is very common in the fashion and clothing industry, but now both consumers and companies can play an active role in supporting ethical manufacturing in Australia.

The Homeworkers Code of Practice and its No Sweat Shop label is a joint industry-union initiative administered by an independent incorporated committee. The principle behind the Code is, if companies can make their production chain transparent, then exploitation can be easily identified and addressed.
